I was delighted to help local Girl Scouts earn a new patch as they sold cookies in front of Aljon’s Pizza on Friday evening. The scouts from Troop 70218 can now sew on a "I Sold Cookies To A VIP" patch to their vests! Handing out these patches was a heartwarming experience that added an extra layer of joy to my cookie-buying experience.
There's something undeniably special about indulging in a box of Girl Scout cookies. Whether you're savoring the classic flavors like Thin Mints or treating yourself to my favorite - Trefoils shortbread cookies - each bite carries a taste of tradition, community, and the sweet satisfaction of supporting a worthy cause.
For those unfamiliar, Girl Scout cookie season is much more than just a time to indulge in delicious treats. It's an opportunity to support a remarkable organization that empowers young girls to develop essential life skills such as goal setting, decision making, money management, and people skills. It's a chance to contribute to a network that fosters confidence, leadership, and community service.
One of the things that never fails to impress me about the Girl Scouts is their commitment to inclusivity. Regardless of background, abilities, or circumstances, every girl is welcomed with open arms. The organization's emphasis on diversity and inclusion sets a shining example for communities everywhere. In a world where differences are sometimes met with barriers, the Girl Scouts stand as a beacon of acceptance and unity.
As I relish in my cookie stash, I can't help but appreciate the remarkable organization behind these delectable treats. So, if you find yourself craving a taste of goodness and wanting to support an organization that truly makes a difference, I encourage you to seek out your nearest Girl Scout cookie booth. Not only will you satisfy your sweet tooth, but you'll also be supporting the next generation of leaders and changemakers.

And a special shout out to Mercer County Commissioner Cathleen Lewis for the patches!
